MBBS stands for Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. It is based on five year course and one year house job. There are different subjects for different years and every time the student is promoted to next class he/she starts searching about new book of new subjects. Here in this post i will give the list of mbbs second year books, that i found to be the best among all other books.
List of mbbs 2nd year books:
Unlike other years, 2nd year subjects are same as first year and the students don’t need to search for books except the few ones. So, the majority of books remains the same. Here i will again list all of the books listed for first year plus some new books.
2nd Year Anatomy books:
Clinical anatomy:
There are many books for clinical anatomy but the best books are the following:
If, i have to choose one book, i would select snell clinical anatomy by regions. If you want to do detailed study then you should read gray’s or moore anatomy but for review and brief/ to the point study snell anatomy is the best book.
Atlas:
For gross anatomy, you can use atlas along with snell or other book that will help you to understand and learn different structures.
For this, i found netter atlas of human anatomy to be the best.
Embryology:
Embryology is the study of pre-natal development. It is one of the most important subject or branch of anatomy. The book that i recommend for embryology is: Langman embryology because i have studied and compared it myself with other books.
Histology:
Histology is the study of tissues. And to learn about different tissues and to differentiate them from one another you would need an altas. For this purpose, i have found di-fiore atlas of histology to be the best atlas of histology.
Neuro Anatomy:
The subject that is new for second year students is neuro-anatomy because it is not studied during first year. All of it is studied only in second year. Therefore, if you are searcing for the best book of neuro-anatomy, then i would recommend snell neuro anatomy because it has explained all the things with diagrams etc and clinical notes are given at the end of each chapter which is very important for a medical student.
2nd year physiology books:
Physiology is the study of functions of different organs of human body. It covers all of the mechanisms that occurs in the human body and one of the most important subject that build your basics. Because if you don’t study physiology, you cannot study medicine and pharmacology etc.
The book that i study myself and recommends to every student for physiology is Guyton medical Physiology.
2nd year biochemistry books:
There are many books of biochemistry but the books that you can download from this site are:
Both of these are the best books of biochemistry and you can choose any of them.
Another book that is studied by many students and is also one of the best book of biochemistry is “textbook of medical biochemistry by Chatterjee”. You can download this book here.
Final words:
These are all the books of 2nd year mbbs. I have used some of these books (that are recommended above) and find them to be the best.

Hello sir…Thanks for the uploads but I am a bit curious about the editions..These books are not recently edited and some are edited even in 2010…Arent books edited in 2010 and 2015 of any differences??Would have been 100% satisfied if all the editions were recent..But still thanks a lot 🙂
yes they are 95% same…only few changes and color changes to make them new…many of them would be 98% same.

if you are from pakistan and you haven’t done fsc in biology (pre medical) then you would have to give exam of biology again and then appear in entry test for medical colleges. After that you would get admission in mbbs.
